Frederick H. LaRoque Bible - Frederick Horatio LaRoque was a son of Dr. James LaRoque II and Louisa Mabson of Wilmington. He came to Lenoir County to practice medicine where he met and married Mary Elizabeth, a daughter of Walter Dunn and Cynthia Loftin. The LaRoque settled in Contentnea Neck Township of Lenoir County. After his wife's death Frederick married Hannah Potts, daughter of Charity Potts and Walter Dunn, Jr. In a 1865 letter to her brother Newman Potts she stated "My husband left five children two of them all grown the youngest is seven years old, he was the baby when I married the Doctor".
