Joshua & Robert James Potts
1825-1828
New Hanover County, NC

Familysearch.org

The following guardianship information is about Joshua and Robert James Potts who are likely brothers. These papers give no indication of the parents of these two minors.

It possible they were sons of Joshua Potts (d 1820) and Judith who died in 1805, age 47 or second wife Mary Kirkwood whom he married after 13 Nov 1806. The two young men were in the 1830 census for Brunswick County, NC and shows Joshua and James ages as 20-29.

A deed from (R J) Robert James Potts to D O Hanlon was acknowledged 14 Dec 1829 indicating his age was 21 years or over making him born in or before 1808.

Robert W. Brown, Guardian to Joshua and Robert James minors, is mentioned many times together with Joshua (d 1820) throughout the New Hanover County, NC court minutes from 1787 to 1820.
