Maud Frances Dunn, 1865-1883
Daughter of Wm Walter Dunn & Susan H. Rountree

Contributed by William Dunn, descendant of William Walter and Susan Rountree Dunn

Goldsboro Messenger 28 Jun 1883. Miss Maud Dunn, daughter of W. W. Dunn, the young lady spoken of last week as being very low with typhoid fever, died about one o'clock last Friday. She was about 18 years old and was the only daughter; accomplished, amiable and noble. The "vacant chair" at home, the vacant seat in the Disciples Church, and "aching void" in society, will ever remind us of her worth. She leaves a father, mother and three brothers, sad and lonely. The funeral services were held at the residence by Rev. E. E. Orvis.

Examples of the many invitations to Maud for ball's/dances

She had many pages filled in an "Autograph" book that she owned

From her scrap book of that she pasted "life stories etc" on to a ledger that her dad William Walter Dunn had used for his "Son's of Temperance" meeting notes. Here are some pages that didn't have her scrapbook items on them. The meeting ledger was from approx July 23, 1850 to around Feb 1853 from the pages that I can see.

Here is a page of many that Maud used for her scrapbook with clippings about "life." These seem to be from the late 1870's to the 1st few years of the 1880's to just before her death in 1883. You can see the "sons" ledger below her pasted clippings.

The biggest problem is identifying old tin types like this that I know had to come from Kinston but I have no idea who they are yet.
