William Dunn Lease to John Tarpley, 1712

20 Sep 1712 - Richmond County, VA - William Dunn leased to John Tarpley 200 acres given to Wm Dunn by will of Capt. Alex. Newman. Deed Book 6, pg. 67. Recorded 1 Oct 1712.

This Indenture made the 20 day of Sept'r one thousand seven hundred and twelve Between William Dunn of the parish of Farnham and County of Richmond of the one partie and John Tarpley gent of the said Parish and County of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William Dunn for and in consideration of __, __, __, __, four Shillings of Lawful money of England to me in hand paid by the said John Tarpley whereof I do acknowledge the Re'ced hath Bargained and Sold and do by these presents bargain and sell unto the said John Tarpley his heirs Exe'rs Adm'rs or assigns, all that parcell or piece of Land containing two hundred acres and was given to the said William Dunn by the Last Will and Testament of Cap't: Alexander Newman dec'd, the said parcell of Land situated in the parish of Farnham and County of Richmond and on the mouth of Moratico Creek and now in ye house and occupation of the said John Tarpley, Together with all houses, Edifices, buildings, Gardens, Orchards, Houses, woods, underwoods, ways, water and water courses, priviledges and commondities whatsoever to the said parcel or piece of Land and all and singular the premises aforesaid and to Every part and parcel thereof belonging or in any ways appertaining, and the Reversion and Reversions, Remainder and Remainders, Rents, *** and profitts, and all and singular the Estate, Right and Title, benefit, property claim and demand whatsoever of him the said Wm: Dunn in and to the same, or any part, or parcel thereof, that is now, or may hereafter by virtue of the afore'd Cap't Alex'r Newmans Will.

To have and to hold the Land, parcell or piece of land and all and Singular the premises afores'd and every part, and parcell thereof hereby Granted, Bargained and Sold unto the said John Tarpley, his heirs Ex'rs, Adm'rs or assigns, from the day of the date hereof for and during and untill the full end and time of one whole year, thence next *** and fully to be Compleated and ended Yeilding and paying therefore the rent of one Ear of Indian Corne, on the first day of the birth of our Lord not refusing if lawfully demanded, to end intent and purposes that by Virture of the presents and of the Statue for transferring *** into possession the Said John Tarpley may be in the actual possession of the premises and *** enabled to accept a grant of the Revision and Inheritance thereof to him and his heirs for ever. In Witness whereof the parties first above written hereunto hath interchageably sett their hand and fixed their seales the day and year first above written.

Att a Court held for Richmond County the first day of October 1712
William Dunn came into Court and acknowledged this his Deed unto John Tarpley gent, and it was admitted to Record. Also William Barber gent by Virtue of a power of attorney from Ann Dunn the wife of the said William Dunn, to him in that behalf made relinquished her the said Ann's Right of Dower in the Lands Conveyed in this Deed unto ye sd John Tarpley and was also admitted to Record.
