1884 - Newman Potts Division of property: Lot No. 3 is assigned to William Potts in severalty, bounded as follows - beginning at a stake on the New Berne road, corner of lot no. 2, corner of lot no. 4 - stake on the New Berne road, corner of lot no. 4, then with said road northwardly to the first station, containing twenty five acres valued at three hundred & seventy five dollars. [It's possible this tract contained the homeplace since the acreage was much less than the other siblings tracts and it had path to the road]

1889 - Julia Elizabeth Potts Division of property: Lot No 9 drawn by William Potts & bounded as follows to wit: Begins at a stake in Fields line corner of lot No 8 to the first station, containing (7) seven acres valued at twenty five dollars.

William passed this property down to his son William Herbert Potts.
