17 Dec 1842 - Commissioners G. W. Collier, Bright Best and Wm. D. Cobb were directed by the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions at November Term 1842 to divide the land of John McKinne among the lawful heirs of John McKinne and presented their findings to the court. Lot No 3 - drawn by Sarah McKinne on the run of Carraway's Creek in the Mill pond Hepsey's corner to the back line her other corner to a pine near the head of Short Branch to a pine on the north side of sd branch near Wm Carraway's Spring the old Stooping pine corner to the run of Carraway's Creek and containing 72 3/4 acres valued at $200.

Indenture made March 9, 1901 between Matthew and Susan M. (Potts) Jones to Joel S. Fields being a portion of the Newman Potts home place adjoining the lands of Catherine and Addison Fields. Recorded March 9, 1901. Wayne County, NC Register of Deeds; Book 78, page 437.

Addison and Sarah married on Septmeber 1, 1853 in the home of Nicholas Smith. He and his mother Elizabeth and siblings Bennit C. and Robert C. Fields migrated to Wayne County from Greene County before September 25, 1852 when he and his brother Bennit bought land from Matthew Casey on the north side of the Yellow Marsh in the Brogden community. Their sister Margaret had married Nicholas Smith by this time and were living close by. Josiah Fields was also close by and was a half-brother of Addison and also from Greene County.

Indenture written 25 Sep 1852 between Matthew Casey of Wayne of the one part and James A. Fields and Bennet C. Fields of the county of Greene of the other part, for $643 land in Wayne on south side Neuse River north side of the Yellow Marsh adjacent to Josiah Fields, John Canady, head of Yellow Marsh, John West line containing 183 3/4 acres.
December 17, 1868 - For value received I Bennet C. Fields doth relinquish my right and interest in the above mentioned deed to James A. Fields. Recorded October 21, 1869. Wayne Co Register of Deeds; Bk 89, pg 46.

Indenture made 7 Nov 1856 between Bennett C. Fields to James A. Fields both of Wayne, for $100 land in Wayne on the east side of the Wilmington & Weldon Railroad adjacent R. Deed written November 21, 1860 between J. A. Fields and Lovey Lane, for $112 land in Wayne on the east side of the Wilmington & Weldon Rail Road known as a part of Richard Casey land adjacent to the run of Marshy Branch, Potts corner, head of Casey's Mill Pond containing 31 1/4 acres. This indenture made 6 Dec 1869 between Jno. D. Capps and wife Phebe of the first part and James A. Fields of the second part, for $150 land in Wayne on the east side of the Wilmington & Weldon Railroad adjacent to the Goldsboro road, run of the Marshey Branch just below the Casey's Old Mill, Marshey Branch known as the Demijohn corner containing 25 acres. Witnesses: John Smith and Wm. T. Smith. Recorded: February 6, 1873. Wayne County, NC Register of Deeds, Bk 33, pg 601.

Deed written March 15, 1870 between J. D. & Phebe Capps to Nicholas Smith all of Wayne, for $200 land in Wayne adjacent to the east by the lands of J. A. Fields, on the south by the lands of F. F. Harrell, on the west by the lands of Lovey Fields, on the north by Marshy Branch containing 32 acres. Witnesses: Witnesses: John Smith, Wm. T. Smith. Recorded December 16, 1884. Indenture made this the 23 Sep 1870 between the undersigned David Everitt Executor of said William Carraway of the first part and the said Sarah Fields wife of J. A. Fields of the second part both of the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina. Witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of forty five (45) dollars the amount of the purchase money the receipt and payment of which is hereby acknowledged has given granted bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents does give grant bargain sell and convey to the said Sarah Fields the party of the second part her heirs assigns that tract of land lying in Wayne County formerly belonging to the estate of Wm. Carraway deeded to him by W. J. Futrel and drawn by said Futrel’s wife Hepsey in the division of the lands of John McKinne dec’d and known as lot no 2 in said division bounded as follows:
Beginning at a stake at the west end of the mill dam and runs with Robert McKinne’s line, the north side of Poplar Branch, his corner in the back line, the run of Carraway’s Creek in the mill pond containing 72 aces. Indenture made 5 Feb 1873 between James A. and wife Sarah Fields of the one part and Matthew M. Jones of the second part, for $220 land in Wayne on the east side of the Wilmington & Weldon Rail Road and in the waters of the Marshey Branch adjacent to the Goldsboro road in the run of the Marshey Branch just below the Casey Old Mill, Casey’s old residence the Boykin place, the Demijohn corner, north side of the mill pond to the beginning with the privilege to raise the dam two feet higher containing 25 acres. Indenture written January 7, 1876 between James A. & Sarah Fields and John F. Fields (son) all of Wayne, for $1 land in Wayne in Brogden Township adjoining the lands of Newman Potts adjacent to Josiah Field's line, John Carraway's line, head of Yellow Marsh, John West's line containing 183 3/4 acres. Another tract being part of a tract deeded to James A. Fields by Bennet C. Fields adjacent to M. C. King's line containing 10 acres. Witness: W. G. Morrissy. Recorded: January 15th and 20th, 1876. Mortgage Deed written 25 Nov 1882 between J. A. Fields & Newman Potts to Giles Kornegay, for $805 land in Wayne on Sleepy Creek adjoining the lands of Wright Casey Jr, Robert Peel adjacent to Casey’s line, stake in sd Peel’s line containing 15 acres. Deed written 7 Jan 1890 from J. A. Fields and wife Sarah Fields to Mary A. Potts in consideration of one dollar to them paid by Mary A. Potts a tract of land adjoining the lands of Wm Carraway, Jerry Hines adjacent to the west end of the mill dam and runs with Robt. McKinnes line run of Carraway Creek in the mill pond, then down the run of Carraway Creek containing 72 3/4 acres valued at $200. Recorded Jany 7, 1890. Deed made 7 Jan 1890 between J. A. Fields and wife Sarah Fields of the first part and Smithy M. Lewis of the second part all of Wayne, for one dollar adjoining the lands of Carraways Creek in the Mill Pond, Hepsey Futrell's corner, head of Short Branch, north side of Short Branch, Wm Carraway's spring, run of Carraway Creek containing 72 3/4 acres. Deed written January 10, 1890 between William & Willie Potts to J. A. Fields all of Wayne, for $100 land in Wayne adjoining the lands of Susan Jones and Minnie Lewis being lot No 3 in the division of Newman Potts land among his heirs adjacent to a stake on New Berne Road containing 25 acres. Deed written 10 Nov 1891 between J. A. Fields & wife Sarah Fields and Newman Potts and wife Mary A. Potts, parties of the first part and Giles Kornegay party of the second part all of Wayne, for $10 land in Wayne on Sleepy Creek adjoining the lands of Wright Casey, Sr., Robert Peel, Wright Casey’s line, Peel’s line, containing 15 acres. Deed written March 9, 1901 by Joel S. Fields and wife Lou Fields of Wayne County to Newman Potts Jr. all of Wayne for $425 land in Wayne adjoining the lands of Addison (J. A.) Fields and Newman Potts Jr. and adjacent to a stake on the Newbern Road, corner of Lots No. 3, 2 and 5 containing 56 3/4 acres [in the division of lands of Newman Potts dec'd 1884]. Deed written March 8, 1906 between J. A. & Sarah Fields to Mary A. Potts in consideration of the natural love and affection which they have towards their daughter for the sum of one dollar, subject to the life estate of the parties of the first part, all the personal property now owned by and in possession of the said parties of the first part, and two certain parcels of land. First tract containing 25 acres beginning at a stake on the New Bern road (Genoa Rd today), corner of lot no 2 in the division of the lands of Newman Potts Sr. dec’d, purchased from Wm Potts 10 Jan 1890. Second tract containing 55 ½ acres beginning at a stake on the New Bern road corner of lot no 4 in Newman Potts Sr. dec’d land division being land purchased from Wm Lewis 7 Dec 1893 excepting from this tract 27 acres conveyed by said J. Deed written June 8, 1901 between Newman & Mary Fields Potts to J. R. Melton all of Wayne, for 300 land in Wayne County adjacent to Wm. Carraway, Jerry Hines, west end of Mill Dam, Robert McKinne, north side Poplar Branch, Carraway Creek, mill house containing 72 3/4 acres. (This land was inherited by J. A.
