Son of William & Zilphia Hines Casey


Wright Casey born 1824 on his father's plantation on Bear Creek, died 1876 on his own plantation on what is now called "The Cliffs of the Neuse State Park." He married Mary Harrell, born 1832, died 1900. They, along with their daughter Louise Casey Wiggins and her husband, James William Wiggins, are buried in the Casey-Wiggins Cemetery in the Cliffs State Park. Images

Indenture made 19 Nov 1837 between Furnifold Jernigan and Wright Casey both of Wayne, for $460 land in Johnston County on the southside of Mill Creek adjacent to Chambers Branch, Frederick Granthams corner, Wise Branch, Rachael Rose containing 170 acres. Witnesses: R. Washington and B. Peacock. Registered: Nov'r Term 1837. Johnston County, NC Register of Deeds, Bk S2, pg 108.

Indenture made 1 May 1838 between Asher Pipkin of Wayne and Wright Casey of Johnston, for three and twenty five dollars land on the southside of Mill Creek adjacent to Wise Branch, John Stevens (now Thomas Tolers) line, Sarah Walker Branch, John Stevens (not Thos. Tolers) other line, Henry Stevens corner containing 135 acres. Witnesses: W. H. Stevens and Frederick Grantham. Registered: Feb'y Term 1839. Johnston County, NC Register of Deeds, Bk S2, pg 278.

Indenture made 1 Feb 1842 between Benjamin Fields and Wright Casey both of Johnston County, for $37.50 land om Johnston adjoining Henry Stevens, Richard Washington, land previously deeded from Willis Cole to Benjamin Fields containing 100 acres. Witnesses: John Casey and Joel Joyner, Jr. Registered: 21 Feby 1842. Johnston County Deed Book T-2, pg 365-367.

Indenture made 7 Jan 1843 between Richard Washington of Wayne and Wright Casey of Johnston, for $250 two pieces of land in Johnston. First on the southside of Mill Creek adjacent to Francis Howards line containing 100 acres. Second on the southside of Mill Creek adjacent to Willis Coles corner, Horse Pen Branch, Henry Stevens line, Ralph Byrds corner containing 208 acres. Indenture made 6 Jan 1850 between Junious G. Slocumb of Mississippi by his agent of the first part and Wright Casey late of Johnston County but now of the county of Wayne of the other part, for $4125 land in Wayne on the south side of Neuse River adjacent to river bank, Thompsons corner, Godhen Road near the run of Holmes Branch, Big Marsh, head of Green Branch (Collins ditch) containing 825 acres. Witnesses: E. Murray and Wm. Bass. Registered: May Term 1850.

Indenture made 22 Dec 1852 between Wright Casey and George W. Collier both of Wayne, for $4635 land in Wayne on the south side of Neuse River known as the Slocumb land adjacent on the north by Neuse River, on the west by said George W.
