In The Name of God Amen I Richard Casey in the County of Wayne and state of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life do therefore make ordain publish and declare this to be my last will and testaent that is to say.

First after all my lawful debts are paid and dischaged the residue of my estate real and personal I give bequeath and dispose of as follows to wit.

To my beloved wife the land and appurtenances situated thereon known and described as the home plantation lying in the county of Wayne and state of North Carolina together with the land and appurtenances situated there on known and discribed as the Whitly land. I give to my wife all the house and kitchen furniture to divide between my children that has not had or recieved a share of them I give to my wife one sorrell horse named ball together with one sorrel mare named doll. I give to my wife one buggy one yoke of oxen and cart also one Negro woman named Bethy seven cows and calves to her to divide between my children at the time each one leaves her. I also give to my wife thirty five head of stock hogs and seventy five barrels of corn and ten stacks of fodder and four thousand pounds of pork and seven bushels of salt one hundread pounds of sugar and one hundread pounds of coffee twenty gallons of molasses and twenty five bushels of wheet my wife may keep the Negro wimmen and children till the youngest child becomes of age if she wants to and if not Matthew may keep them.

If my wife does not keep the wimmen and children I give my wife only one half of the allounce above written and if she is not satisfied with what is left her she may have what the law will give to her and after her death I give the land where I now live to my son Francis the other piece of land commonly known as the whitly land I want to be sold.

To my daughter Cuzza I give an equal share of my estate after which I reduce seven hundred dollars - (this sentence has a line through it and the following sentence written): To my daughter Cuzza I have already given seven hundred dollars.

To my son Benjamin I give five cents.

To my daughter Elizabeth I have already given eight hundread and sixty dollars.

To my son Bryant I have already given seven hundred dollars.

To my daughter Phebe is due seven hundread dollars to make her equal with the rest.

To my son John I have already given seven hundread dollars.

To my daughter Sally I give five cent.

To my daughter Caroline I have already given seven hundread dollars.

To my daughter Edith I have already given seven hundread dollars.

To my daughter Polly is due seven hundread dollars to make her equal with the rest.

To my son Matthew I have already given seven hundread and forty dollars.

To my son Lemuel I give the portion of land lying on the south side of Neuse River known as the Slocumb land also lying on the north side of a line runing a straight course from the gate to the Green corner the land which I have give to my son Lemuel is equal to the thirteen hundred and fifty dollars.

To my son Francis I give my home plantation after the death of my wife together with the Slocum land which lies this side of the line running from the gate to the Green corner which is equal to one thousand and fifty dollars I also give to my son Francis a mare colt named pidgin of a claybank color also a bridle and saddle.

To Cullen Casey I have already given seven hundread dollars I also give him five cents more without any share in the remainder of my property.

Likewise I make constitute and appoint my son Bryant and my son-in-law Abia Herring to be executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made I witness where of I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the second day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundread and fifty three.

The above written instrument was subscribed by the said Richard Casey and acknowledged by him to each of us and he at the same time published and declared the above testament so subscribed to be his last will and testament and we at the testators request and in his presence have signed our names as witnesses hereto and written opposite our named our respective places of residence.

Wayne County May Term 1855
There was the foregoing paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Richard Casey was produced in open court and offered for probate, when the same was duly proven by the oaths of Robert McKinne, John Hays and James A. Fields the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be Recorded Where upon Bryan Casey and Abia Herring the Executors herein named came into court and qualified as executors hereto.
