Charles made a will in Chesterfield County, Virginia February 9, 1776. Will Book 2, page 247-249, dated February 9, 1776, proved May 3, 1776. Contributed by Billy Casey.

In the name of God amen. I Charles Cayce of Chesterfield County and Manchester parish be of sound and perfect memory thanks be to the almighty God. I, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following first I recommend my soul to God who gave it hoping through the merits of my Saviour Jesus Christ to receive pardon and forgiveness for all my sins and my body I desire may be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors here after. I have disposed of my estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with in this world In the following manner and form vzt.

Item. I, give and bequeath to my son Robert Cayce all my land lying on the East side of the new road also my riding mare and saddle also my great Chest to him and his heirs forever after his mother's decease.

Item. I give and bequeath to my son Charles Cayce after his mother's decease my plantation whereon I now live during his natural life. It contains one hundred acres more or less except one acre for my burying place my will is that he never sell it and after his decrease to my grandson Rilan Cayce to him and his heirs forever and if my grandson Rilan Cayce should die without heir my desire is that the said land fall to his brother if any and if none to my grandson Fleming Cayce.

Item after the death of my wife my desire is that all my stock of cattle, hogs, sheep and all other of my living stock to be equally divided among all my children.

Item. I give and bequeath to my son Micajah Cayce one good feather bed and furniture and if he never comes for it my will is that all be equally divided among the rest of my children.

Item. I give and bequeath to my loving wife Elizabeth Cayce all the remainder of my moveable estate during her natural life and after her death my will is that all be equally divided among my sons also my desire is that my estate shall not be appraised.

Item I do ordain constitute and appoint my beloved wife and my son Robert Cayce my whole and sole Executors of this my last will and testament.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Ninth day of February one thousand seven hundred and seventy six.
