Joseph Potts, Chester County, PA

Madam:

I advise you that the Revolutionary War records of this bureau show that Joseph Potts served as Captain of the Fifth Regiment Pennsylvania Line from January 1, 1777 until July 1, 1778.

Bounty land Warrant No. 612 for three hundred acres was allowed, on account of his services, February 26, 1812, for the benefit of George Potts of Chester County, Pennsylvania, "the only child and legal heir of Joseph and Sarah Potts deceased."

There are no other data in regard to said soldier and it does not appear that a claim for pension was ever made on account of his services.

Respectfully,

Winfield Scott
Commissioner
