In his book "British Origins of American Colonists 1629-1775", William Dollarhide provides some interesting history of people who lived on each side of the Scotland and England border. "The fourth and largest group of immigrants from the British Isles were those who came to America's backwoods beginning about 1717 and continuing up to 1775." The pages below are from the book's section titled "British & Scottish Borderers to America 1717-1775." The POTTS surname is mentioned as one of these families.
